Lake walk for 2024-10-30

On my lake walk I saw a crow with an acorn in his mouth, the great blue heron and a black-crowned night heron. I may have seen a bufflehead on the West side of the lake but he dove under too quickly to get a photo. There were also cormorants on the platform.

Return of the ruddy ducks

Earlier this year I mistook ruddy ducks for buffleheads, partly because a few buffleheads were mixed in with the ruddy ducks. Today on my lake walk I saw a large contingent of ruddy ducks on the West side of the lake. They have been absent for several months and I'm curious how long they'll stay around.

Cormorants back on their tree

The bald eagle left so the cormorants were back on their tree.
